The Enhanced Studies Program (ESP) for Year 12 students is available for Semester 1, 2026. Applications for 2026 are opening soon.
Applications will close strictly at 5pm on Friday, 17 October 2025.
Students may study one University-level course at The University of Queensland from the course options listed below. If you have previously studied in Year 11 at UQ, you are not eligible to participate.

However, the previous semester Course Profile can be used as a guide up until this time (click on the course below, and then the available Course Profile).

1 Language placement tests: For these courses, applicants must sit a language placement test to determine their suitability for the course. Entry into these courses is subject to the successful passing of a placement tests. If the applicant’s language skills are determined as being too advanced for their chosen language course (or do not meet the minimum language requirement for entry), the applicant may be given the opportunity to study an alternative UQ language course more appropriate to their language skill level. This is determined on a case-by-case basis, and is dependent on course and quota availability, and approval from the School of Languages and Cultures, the Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences Faculty, and UQ Admissions. Further information regarding placement tests will be provided prior to enrolment.
Quotas: Some language courses have a limited number of places available, therefore not all suitably qualified applicants will be offered a place. If an applicant misses out on a place in a relevant language course, they may be offered an alternative ESP course. Note that the student must meet any prerequisites (if applicable) for the alternative course.

1MATH1051: Applicants must be studying Mathematical Methods and Specialist Mathematics. However, it is highly recommended that applicants are achieving at a ‘A’ grade level. Students achieving well in these subjects have better outcomes in MATH1051.
2MATH1081: Applicants must be studying Mathematical Methods. To be considered for MATH1081, students must be achieving a minimum ‘B’ grade in Mathematical Methods in Semester 1, Year 11. However, it is highly recommended that applicants are achieving at a ‘A’ grade level. Students achieving well in these subjects have better outcomes in MATH1081.
