Tips for ESP students studying externally
Some ESP courses are available via external or flexible delivery. If you are an ESP student studying externally, it is highly recommended that you read these tips.
my.UQ
This website is essential for all UQ students. For external students it is even more important, as it acts as a link between you and your studies. my.UQ is the central location for you to access your UQ emails, mySI-net and eLearning tools like Blackboard.
- Email: UQ students are provided with their own email account upon enrolment - this is the University's official means of communicating with you, therefore it is important that you check it regularly.
- mySI-net: This website allows you to update your personal details (eg. addresses).
- Blackboard - eLearning: As an external student, this is where you will spend most of your time. Lectures, important content, online quizzes, discussion boards and other resources will be posted in Blackboard (eLearning).
Current ESP Students website
The majority of the information on the Current ESP Students website is relevant to both internal and external students. You can find a range of information such as examination info, library links and helpful contacts.
Updates from the ESP Coordinator
You will receive several of these during your semester of study. Ensure that you read these carefully, as they will contain important general information about the ESP.
Student Services Online Workshops
As you will be completing the majority or all off your study off campus, you may find the online workshops (available from Student Services) helpful. They cover a range of topics relevant to university study, such as problem solving, assignment writing and exam preparation.
